How many video ads should you actually test?

Sep 15, 2026 · 5 min read

One ad is a guess. Three is a signal. Ten is a system. A practical guide to sizing your creative testing budget without wasting spend.

The most common mistake we see isn't bad creative — it's under-testing. Brands launch one video, it underperforms, and they conclude video ads don't work. One ad tells you almost nothing.

A useful rule of thumb: every meaningful test needs at least three distinct concepts. Not three cuts of the same idea — three genuinely different angles on why someone should buy. Different hooks, different offers, different emotional registers.

Once you find a winner, the work isn't done. Winning creative fatigues, usually within weeks on high-spend accounts. The brands that scale are the ones with a pipeline: new hooks and concepts arriving before the old ones decay.

That's the logic behind our package sizes. Three ads gives you a real signal. Five lets you test angles against each other. Ten or twenty turns creative into a system instead of a lottery ticket — and the monthly subscription keeps the pipeline full.
